Taster Days

We want your child to be happy, and based on parental feedback, children who come for a Taster Day at Fosse Bank have a happy and positive experience and always want to return.

Once you have seen Fosse Bank School, met the Head and decided to apply for a place, your child will be invited to attend a Taster Day.

On this day your child will meet the class teacher for their appropriate age group and will spend the day following the class timetable.  Children from Kindergarten to Year 1 are not formally assessed.  In Year 2 some structured Mathematics and English work is completed during the morning to aid us in considering your child for a place. From Year 3 a more formal assessment is made, often by use of InCAS,  a computer program that is routinely used by pupils at Fosse Bank. Although we aim to take a broad selection of pupils we wish to ensure that both your child and our existing pupils will be able to learn effectively together in the classroom.

Pre-school aged children also attend a Taster Day, generally during the term preceding their third birthday, and can spend either the whole day with us or one of the morning or afternoon sessions.

Following the Taster Day we notify parents as soon as possible whether or not their child is to be offered a place at Fosse Bank. In the case of over subscription we will let you know there is a waiting list and keep you informed as and when a place arises.

Our current pupils are always delighted to welcome a new child to the Fosse Bank and we look forward to meeting your child on their Taster Day.

In advance of a Taster Day you will be asked to complete a Pupil Information Form which will helps us to make the most of the day that your child spends at Fosse Bank.
