#FBRemote is live!

You all had hardly any notice before schools were locked down and have really risen to the challenge.

Following the Government closure of all schools due to COVID-19, Fosse Bank has successfully implemented a virtual learning platform for all pupils, with the exception of those children of key workers who remain in school.

Staff have spent the Easter holidays creating an online environment that enables pupil learning to continue whilst understanding the challenges that are facing parents who themselves are trying to work from home.

Morning registration, Maths and English lessons take place using Zoom video conferencing, meaning that for a minimum of 2 hours a day pupils are working ‘live’ with their teachers. Break out rooms are used providing extra teacher support to those pupils who require it.

Class teachers have developed daily timetables to deliver the rest of the curriculum via Teams on Office 365.  Assignments are set and once completed, teachers mark online allow marking and feedback to be delivered directly back to pupils.

All the staff have all put an amazing effort into organising the remote learning for the children. I is enjoying it and it keeps her focused.

Pastoral care is paramount at Fosse Bank and we have mindfulness sessions on offer to our pupils along with other online clubs via Zoom by our SENCO.

Weekly celebration assemblies are being held to ensure we keep our sense of community alive and kicking.

The Early Years department are holding daily Zoom phonics and maths sessions together with a ‘live’ story time.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the organising and time taken for the children to access online learning. You have all been amazing and I would say week one have been a success!

Friday afternoon’s are now known as ‘Fosse Friday Activities’.  Each week will have a different theme, the first being St George’s day and the idea is for the whole family to get involved and share their work.  Some fabulous artwork has been created and even a slow motion movie by one of our Y5 pupils – click here to view.

In these troubling times we are doing everything we can to provide some normality to our pupils world’s.

If you are interested in your child joining the Fosse Bank family please do get in touch with our Business Manager, Mel Greener via sbm@fossebankschool.co.uk.  We are offering virtual taster days and Zoom sessions with our headteacher whilst we are unable to conduct school visits.  If you want to see a snapshot of life at Fosse Bank visit our Virtual Tour.
